FAQ

Common questions

Where can I sell my gold in South Africa?

You can sell to a specialist gold buyer, a jeweller, a bullion dealer, a pawn shop or privately online. We are a specialist gold buyer: get a free price online, then visit a branch or ask us to come to your address, by appointment. Our guide compares every option and what to check before you choose.

Can I sell my gold today?

You can start today: get a free indicative price online in under a minute. Visits are by appointment, and in Johannesburg same-day appointments are available by arrangement, so phone or send a WhatsApp message to ask what is free.

How is my gold price calculated?

The online calculator gives an indicative price based on the live gold spot rate. The final offer is always set after we physically test and weigh your item in front of you -- never from the spot rate alone, and never adjusted between the estimate and the payout you accept.

What ID do I need to bring?

A South African ID, passport or asylum permit. This is a FICA requirement for buying precious metals, and it is checked once when your account is verified, not at every visit.

How fast do I get paid?

Immediately by EFT once you accept the offer -- there is no waiting period after you sign.

Am I obligated to sell once I get a valuation?

No. The valuation and physical test are free and carry no obligation. If you decline the offer, your item is returned to you.

What kinds of gold and silver do you buy?

Gold and silver jewellery (including broken pieces), Krugerrands, gold coins, gold bars, and estate or inherited collections.

Which areas do you service?

Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban and Pretoria, with branch visits and home visits by appointment.

How do you test purity?

Karat is verified before your offer is calculated -- by XRF, acid test, hallmark verification, or specific gravity, depending on the item -- and the test happens in front of you, not out of sight.
